This project centred on the stainless steel fabrication and installation of key elements within a specialist school hydrotherapy pool — a space where technical performance had to sit behind everyday use, care and movement.
Working within the existing pool structure, the scope included formed rigidised stainless steel sections, TIG-welded details, drainage areas and access points. The work had to respond closely to the site. Curves, falls, lighting, services and existing construction all shaped how the final details were resolved, with much of the fabrication adjusted and finished in place rather than simply following drawings.
Rigidised stainless steel was selected for its strength, cleanability and suitability in a wet pool environment. Just as important was the way the material was detailed: clean junctions, considered edges, accessible drainage and surfaces that could withstand regular cleaning and long-term use.
A significant part of the project was carried out on site, where careful sequencing and close attention to the surrounding environment were essential. Each section had to be fitted, welded and finished with the practical demands of the pool in mind — hygiene, durability, drainage, access and maintenance.
Relevant welds were NDT tested following fabrication, providing additional assurance that the stainless steel works had been completed to the required standard.
Technically, it was a demanding fabrication project. More importantly, it was work made for a space with a clear purpose: supporting children through movement, therapy and daily care.
